Noise is undesired information in an image that appears during image capturing, transmission, coding, and processing steps, negatively impacting visual quality and obscuring important details. Image denoising is therefore a central problem in both image processing and computer vision, aiming to suppress such distortions while preserving essential structural information. Our paper aims to shed light on recent research in image denoising techniques, evaluate the performance of prominent methods, highlight research gaps, and identify areas for further study.
