Design Low Profile and Wide-band Antenna Based on Meta-surface

Abstract

In this paper, high gain, wideband and Low-profile antenna which utilized single-layer metasurface (MS) is proposed. The MS is consisting of single-layer of frequent metallic patches (unit-cells), Where the formation of cells is divided into two parts, the first is a patch with big size, and the second is composed of dividing the large cell into four small sections, which add at upper of slot antenna separated by a distance (hair ). This MS-based antenna Keeping a low profile of 0.115 λo (where λo is the wavelength of center frequency) at 6.2 GHz. Furthermore, wideband characteristics were achieved for both gain and impedance bandwidth. the impedance bandwidth less than  > -10 dB of antenna proposed is about 40% and ranging from ( 5.62 GHz - 8.43 GHz ) with peak gain value is 8.78 dBi. Simulation results offer that a proposed MS-based antenna design significantly improves the performance of the proposed antenna compared to the same antenna in absence MS. The program used in design and analysis is CST.
